Buying your Car (or selling it for you) FAQ's

  • I'm not based in the areas of the country that you specify; will you still buy my car?

Yes, we would certainly purchase your car. For our 'sell on your behalf' service however we must limit the distance between us and the seller for the process to remain effective.

  • My car has outstanding finance, can you still buy it?

Yes, with this quite often being the case. A valid settlement figure is required from the finance company that holds interest in the car and if the amount is greater than the agreed value we take the difference by credit/debit card (fees apply) or by bank transfer when we collect the car. If the amount owed is less than the agreed value, we simply pay you the difference on collection. In either case, we send the requested settlement amount to the finance company immediately upon completion to allow title in the car to pass to us. Tradecarpro is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to carry out this regulated activity. Firm reference number (FRN) 761357

  • Will your offer change when you come to see my car?

Our valuations are valid for 7 days and are initially based a description of the history, condition and mileage of the car given by you. Our core values are honesty and integrity and it is not our intention to try and find reason to offer you less than our online valuation for your car. We do ask that you also take a fair and reasonable approach when describing your car to us. If you do, we promise to honour our online valuation.

  • What happens if I choose to accept your offer?

Quite simply we will contact you to for some further details and arrange an appointment to view the car. In many cases we can complete the purchase on our first visit! Once we are in receipt of the necessary documentation and have completed the final inspection, we will ensure that you have cleared funds in your account BEFORE we take the car away. We do not charge for immediate payment, we just work on the principal that it's not OUR's to take until we've paid YOU for it!

  • Are there any cars that you won't buy?

We ask that all cars purchased have a valid MOT, not due to expire for at least four weeks from the date of collection. MOT history can be obtained online if the certificate is not available. We are not able to purchase unroadworthy / non-running cars.

  • If I order a brand-new car through Leasecarpro and my car is delayed, what happens with my old car?

Quite simply, you keep using your old car until your new one arrives! On occasion an adjustment to the valuation may be required for the extended usage but this will be agreed with you beforehand.

  • How will I receive payment and are there any associated fees when buying my car?

No fees at all and payment made before we take the car. Simple and upfront.

  • Will you hassle me if I don't accept your offer?

No. No follow-up calls, no haggling and no pressure. We'll give you the figure and you choose to accept by contacting us if you wish.

  • Do I need to have a V5 registration document?

Yes. To prevent fraud and to allow us to legally purchase the car the original V5 Registration Certificate must be provided. Replacement certificates can be ordered from the DVLA website or via a local post office and typically take 2 weeks to arrive (or up to 6 if a keeper change has taken place).

  • The V5 registration document is not in my name, will you still buy my car?

We can only purchase cars from the registered keeper shown on the V5. If you are selling on behalf of a third-party such as a company or a family member, we will require additional documentation. This is also the case in the unfortunate circumstances surrounding a bereavement. Please speak to us for further guidance.

  • I currently have a 'Cherished' (private) registration number on my car, what should I do?

Assuming that you wish to keep the private registration number, you can either transfer it straight onto another vehicle or retain the number on a 'retention' certificate. This must be done through the DVLA website before you sell the car and after which you will be issued a new V5, with a standard registration number. We can only purchase the car once you are in receipt of the new V5.

  • You have a car for sale that I'm interested in buying. When can I view the car?

If we advertise a car for sale, it has been approved by us. Our preparation standards include all necessary history checks (including HPi), a meticulous independent mechanical safety check (with MOT if applicable) and full multi-point functionality and operational rectification. We do not 'over-prepare' cars cosmetically or with routine servicing. In our experience, we find some people would simply pay less for the vehicle, arrange servicing themselves and accept that the car will show a few signs of wear and tear. Some however, would like a car in 'showroom' condition with main dealer servicing. Therefore, we offer reconditioning options in a menu-priced format along with a full video presentation, in order to demonstrate the true condition of the car both inside and out.

Being completely transparent means that if you're happy with the price, condition and part-exchange valuation (if requested) you can be confident that (pending your test drive and final appraisal) you can drive the car away on your first visit, safe in the knowledge that you've not wasted any valuable time.
